I am Stevan, a software engineer. I have written code for a living for more than eleven years. These days I work as an AI-powered engineer, and I still enjoy the moment when something hard starts to feel simple.
What I have built#
I started as a freelance web developer, in PHP with Symfony and Laravel. Later I moved to Node.js, NestJS and TypeScript, and I stayed there. On the way I learned Kafka, PostgreSQL, Redis, Kubernetes and AWS, and enough React and Swift to build the parts people touch.
The work went through four industries. In fintech I led the backend of a core banking platform and its rewrite into services. In betting I built the event flows behind bets, odds and settlement, and they stayed up through the biggest matches. In healthtech I moved a medical education platform from one big PHP app to AWS services. In fleet logistics I am the CTO of Safety Real Time, which keeps trucking fleets inspected and safe in real time.
How AI changed my work#
Since 2024 I build with AI agents every day. I plan, review and decide. The agents write a large part of the code, run the checks and tell me what broke. It did not make me care less about the code. It made me care more about the plan, the tests and the review.
This website is one result. I built it with Claude Code in eight days, including a sky made from real stars. I write about how that works on the blog.
What I care about#
I like small teams with clear goals. I like interfaces that say what they do, estimates that are honest, and software that stays quiet in production. I like to teach, and I have mentored teams through big rewrites.
If you build something and want a second pair of eyes, or a pair of hands, write me.
